Multimedia Project: Civil Rights

I worked long and hard on this video, and now it is finished. I can tell that making these sort of films would be extremely worthwhile as a teacher. It really brings a lot of meaning to the subject, and though time consuming to make, I now have it for years.
I hope you enjoy it!

Final Say

I am so impressed with all that I have learned this semester. Before this course, I really felt confident in my technological knowledge, but now I feel so much more confident! It's amazing!
I think that the most important technology that I learned this semester is a toss up between the class websites and the wiki and the WebQuest that I did for the Final Technology Project. I can really see myself using both of those technologies in my future classroom, and they were also the newest technologies for me to learn. They are also technologies that make me excited, and I hope that my students will be excited to learn and use them too.
I really plan on using a class website in my classroom. I think it is an excellent way to help students keep on top of homework, get in touch with me and others, and leave comments and participate in class discussions. Likewise, I think that having a class wiki (perhaps in connection to the website) would be an amazing way for students to turn in assignments, and share with each other. I can also post things as their teacher to help them in projects or assignments or even supplement lectures. There are really so many possibilities connected to these technologies.
By using these technologies, and teaching these technologies to students, they will learn as they perform projects, and they will be able to teach each other with their technologically made projects, and we all know that you learn the most teaching. Students in my classroom will be active learners--with the help of technology. Go technology!!

Wiki Contribution

I am so excited about what I have learned during this project! It is so fun to be able to start something meaningful, and I was able to be the first to start the Middle School sections on this wiki page. I love technology!!

In my own future classroom, I think it would be a good idea to have a class wiki that students can use to turn in technological assignments that other students can also view and learn from. I think there will definitely be a place for wikis in my class.

Copyright

This is an obvious violation of copyright. It is a full scene of the movie that lasts longer than three minutes. As I was searching on YouTube fori an example, I found "Dead Poet's Society" in full, simply broken up into 5 or 10 minute segments. I think people don't really understand that the actual law is three minutes, but think it is okay to do short segments like this one. And by the way, if you haven't seen this movie... repent!

This clip is a great video that I used as an anticipatory set activity before I taught on Native Americans, but now, after learning about copyright laws, I realize that there are many, many images used in this clip with no citation. The song itself is not cited. In order for this to conform to copyright laws, there needs to be a citation of the images at the end, as well as a citation of the song.

A Great Site for Teachers

Okay, everyone. I found this site, teAchnology, that would make the work that goes along with teaching SO much easier!
You can make rubrics, word searches, find lesson plans and other really useful things.
So check it out! I've actually already used it in a couple of my practiicum lessons, and found it extremely helpful!
Have a great week!

Internet Communication

I am really excited for the opportunity to learn how to make a class website! I think it will be an incredible tool for the student's I teach to be able to go on, check grades, look at rubrics for assignments, look at what's coming up in future units, etc. etc. etc.
